I love using sharing knowledge and idea and seeing people have a 'lightbulb moment' when they learn something new. I love puzzles and problem solving in general! It can take time finding the right way to explain a new concept to people, so I have developed an affinity for Analogies - working out the context that is familiar to a person, the presenting the new concept using that framework. It works!
In my day job, I am an account manager for a digital marketing company in Newmarket, in the northern part of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). I work with clients from all industries and walks of life from lighting and landscaping to pharmacy, construction, and luxury spa services, no two days are the same! They all need to understand the web and how it can work for them in their business, so I get to practice my analogies all the time.
My career has led me through some very different roles. Along the way, I learned that the skills I have are transferable. A process in any industry is a process. Learning the components is important, but the way that steps and components interact with each other, and the way people are affected by those steps falls into a pattern that can be anticipated. Anticipating and managing change is essential for effective management, of a project, a client, or an entire company process.
Personal side-note. Build a blog is like building a house. Hours of angst and second guessing my design choices, working with the developer to fine tune and fix QA issues on this very brand new blog platform. I'm sure I've gained a few pounds and lost some hair along the way.
